COMPANY HISTORY:

Scanner-Rhodes is committed to making excellent films for cinema, television broadcast and DVD release whilst identifying and developing new and rising talent. We have maintained this balance through having close collaborative relationships with leading suppliers and actors and award-winning crews.

The company's first film, Superstitious Minds starring Lucy Russell (The Following; Batman Returns) was released in the UK by Channel 17 in June 2000. It was sold to Virgin Airlines for their transatlantic flights and continued to show in different arenas, helping to mould the image of Scanner-Rhodes. Since then, the company has made steady progress in establishing a reputation for producing high-quality, marketable films.

Our final short film production, Ten Minutes, launched the company into the international arena. The film successfully applied all the ingredients and demands of a feature film to a short film structure and was successfully marketed using feature film marketing and promotion techniques.

Shot on 35mm, the film stars Nick Moran (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels), Craig Charles (Red Dwarf), Terri Dwyer and Paul Danan (both Hollyoaks). The film was first screened at Bafta and then went on to its international premiere at Cannes. Ten Minutes eventually appeared in 21 international film festivals, picking up awards at Westfest in Texas for best original screenplay and best original music score. Festival highlights included competition selection at Ourense, Soho Rushes, Raindance, Sarasota, Commonwealth, Med Film and the Canaries.

Following the success of Ten Minutes, Scanner-Rhodes produced a DVD, The Short Filmmakers' Guide that is currently used in film schools across the UK, France and America. Ten Minutes and the accompanying documentary Making A Short on a Shoestring were both broadcast together in March 2006 on Sky.

In January 2006 Scanner-RhodesProductions embarked on their first feature film entitled Night Junkies. Night Junkies is a dark sexy, urban Vampire thriller with an injection of Tarantino cool and ballistic action. Shot on HD on a micro budget of £50,000 (the equivalent to one shot in a Harry Potter film) the film was shot at 3 Mills Studios and on location around the once frequented Jack The Ripper Alleyway's. After receiving numerous offers, in November 2006, Night Junkies was signed up by International sales agents Renegade Pictures and US domestic rep, Strategic Film Partners. With one sale to the US Night Junkies has already broken even. Night Junkies was released in the US by Allumination on July 31st 2007.

On August 7th 2007 Scanner-Rhodes secured the funds through a similar EIS for their second feature film production entitled City Rats. "City Rats" "City Rats" is an ensemble black comedy full of witty social commentary based solely in London. We have recently signed the stars of the international hit film The Business & Football Factory, Danny Dyer and Tamer Hassan. Collectively they have appeared in the UK’s biggest successes of this decade. Alongside Danny and Tamer we are currently in negotiations to secure further international names to the project.
